The failures turned out to be caused by a pre-cat O2 sensor that wasn't switching until the car was rev'd up a bit. I had the pre-cat O2 sensor replaced with a BOSCH universal unit since the expensive Lotus O2 sensor is nothing more than a BOSCH sensor with a certain length wire and an AMP connector. Unfortunately, the universal sensor caused a code to be set, which is also something I found to be true on the Durango. A forum member on LotusTalk was selling less expensive O2 sensors with the proper connector and maintained that his sensors wouldn't set a code, so $70 and 2 weeks later I received a Chinese-made replacement sensor.
