Ford Fairmont

This was my first car; purchased at a GSA fleet auction. The car appeared to have originally been blue. The GSA stickers "For Official Use Only" were still visible under the lightly sprayed tan paint. The carburetor was hopelessly overly complex with many vacuum lines made of brittle plastic. I carried a length of vacuum line in the glove box so that I could quickly patch them up. Additionally, there was an EGR plate under the carburetor that always filled with exhaust soot, which would cause the car to run lean. It had the typical EGR build-up issues as well.

The car had poor acceleration, but was very tossable (predictable, light, with good grip) in the corners.
