Chris Allston's Chassisworks Seam Welded Mustang Cage

This is a 14 pt. cage kit for the Fox body Mustang that included pre-bent main and side hoops done in seamed electro-welded tubing. Chassisworks is more of a street rod and drag race targeted manufacturer, so I wouldn't recommend this cage for Mustangs destined for the road course. I've also been told that the tubing is too small for this weight vehicle. Although, there is quite a bit of tubing.

The steel plate came with the kit IIRC, but was augmented with additional plate and two lengths of 2" square tube that runs along the rockers and joins the front to the back hoop. The car doesn't have sub-frame connectors, but still lifts three wheels when one corner is jacked up.

Above is a photo looking down through the door opening at the bottom of the rear hoop located behind the driver's seat, but on top of where the rear seat used to rest. The hoop is monted to 1/4" steel plate. The plate is not welded all of the way around. A second steel plate is welded to the front of the plate, and to the body, and a 2" square tube length is welded to that vertical plate. The 2" square tube runs along the rocker to the front hoop.
