Cleaning Things up a bit




Rewiring the Mustang to keep things away from the turbos

Most of the wiring harness has been relocated to the inside of the car. There are two holes through the firewall where a driver-side and a passenger-side harness passes through. The engine harness passes through the larger passenger-side factory hole. Work completed:
  • Removed Wiring
    • Original air conditioning wiring (AC pressure switch)
    • Original Wide-Open-Throttle (WOT) relay
    • Original alternator wiring to the fusible link
    • Original seat belt warning wiring
    • Original interior lighting wiring
    • Original HVAC wiring
  • Installed Wiring
    • New 2 AWG battery terminals
    • New 4 AWG wire from timing cover ground to engine block ground
    • New 4 AWG wire from engine block ground to the new cabin grounding location for PCM
    • New 4 AWG wire from starter solenoid (junction block) to the mini-starter
    • New 10 AWG wire from engine block ground to the front passenger-side factory ground point
    • New 10 AWG wire from battery terminal to the front driver-side factory ground point
    • New ground strap from intake rear to firewall
    • New ground strap from driver-side head to the timing cover ground point
  • Modified Wiring
    • Rerouted rear defrost wire (removes about 12 feet of 10 AWG wire)
    • Remounted relays inside the car
    • Rewired the starter solenoid to be a junction block
  • Notes
    • Brake warning light connector is disconnected, but still in place
